Fearg on Fridays.

Hey guys,

It's Fearg here. I just thought drop in with you all. I think Friday will be my day. I will try my utmost my darlings to stop by and let you know how it's going. Of course, there are only five Friday's until the show including this one so it's not a huge commitment on my part. But it's a commitment nonetheless.

I should make it clear to you that I'm gonna write these blogs as a stream of conscienceness. What that means is I'm going to write as I think, without necessarily filtering it. Or spell checking it. I will attempt to correct as I go, drawing attention to my mistakes if I think it's funny. This isn't funny, which in itself is funny on one level. Isn't it? It's not, is it? Poo.

I play Will in Mate. I quite like Will, I think. Sometimes he says and does things that aren't exactly what I'd say or do, sometimes I'd actively try to do the opposite. But then, if he was just like me then I wouldn't really be an actor would I? How rubbish would it be if you played the greatest Hamlet ever, but when you stepped off stage your mum was sleeping with your murderous uncle, and your best friends are doomed to die in an hilarious Tom Stoppard play somewhere down the line.

Hmm...

I think this is probably the end of my first 'personal' post। I've had a mental week this week, but not a huge amount of New Old Friend-ing, except the monster editing sesh on Tuesday. I'm quite excited about the Royal Court thing. Even if they write back (which they've promised to do) telling us it's a shit play and shouldn't ever see the light of day. It'll at least mean we've done something worth commenting on. I hope they say something nicer though, like "Please come and perform you're excellent comedy 'pon our delightful stage monisignors."

Here's hoping.

Much love
Fearg

Hello there everyone,

Just a brief update on the progress of Mate and New Old Friends as a whole.

Extensive cuts were made to the script yesterday as well as a brand new scene added. Perhaps even more exciting we've posted off the script to the Royal Court Theatre as part of their Young Writer's Programme with selected scripts givent he chance to be performed in the Jerwood Theatre Upstairs at the Royal Court itself.

Rehearsals for Mate start next Monday 2nd June at the Egg. We'll keep you updated on all the goings on as best we can.

New Old Friends

Hello,
We're glad you've taken an interest in us. We are New Old Friends, a brand spanking new theatre company. You can find out more about us at www.newoldfriends.co.uk.

This blog will lead you through our experiences whilst putting on our first show, Mate. This entry will attempt to catch you up with who we are.

People:
Josh Golga -
Josh is a founding member of New Old Friends and co-author of Mate. He has been friends with Feargus since training at Bretton Hall. www.joshgolga.com

Feargus Woods Dunlop -
Feargus is the other founding member of New Old Friends and co-author of Mate too. He refutes that he has been friends with Josh since Bretton; there was a week or two when they didn't speak owing to a wheelchair based fracas.

Amy Patterson -
The delightful Amy came on board as New Old Friends company manager, when Josh & Fearg discovered that total admin ineptitude was an issue. She's brilliant! But busy.

Andrew Dawson -
Andrew auditioned for the role of Wes in Mate on Saturday (24th) and after an evening's deliberation got it on Sunday (25th). He's gonna be great, even if we have to 'open a can in his ass.'

There is more details about all the company on the site www.newoldfriends.co.uk
